ACA Central provides comprehensive information about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“ACA”). Effective March 31, 2014, everyone in the United States is required to have medical insurance, or pay a penalty. Staples wants to make sure that you understand how this legislation affects you and your family – and what choices you have for medical coverage.
You do not need to do anything if:
- You are a full-time associate and have medical coverage through Staples. Our Cigna, UnitedHealthcare and Kaiser plans meet the ACA requirements.
- You are a full- or part-time associate with medical coverage through another employer’s plan (e.g., your spouse’s plan) as long as that plan meets the ACA requirements.
- You have medical coverage through the Marketplace, Medicaid or CHIP.
You DO need to review your options and enroll in a Marketplace plan if you do not have acceptable coverage through an employer’s plan or through Medicare or CHIP. This is especially important for part-time associates because our part-time medical plan does not meet the new federal requirements.
